Hi, how lovely to see you participating in the Color Obstacle Rush!

Please read this document very carefully. It contains important information about how to pre-pare and what to expect from our Color Obstacle Rush this year. Don’t forget to share it with your team!

We have a lot of experience in organizing safe events, and we are grateful for your trust in our ability to provide fun for you in the safest possible environment. Together we will make this day into an amazing, colourful experience!

The event experience may be a little different this year, due to the government’s current guidelines. We have introduced some changes to make sure the event progresses as smoothly and securely as possible in these difficult times. The most important updates concern your arrival time, Covid-19 preventive measures and preparation for the run. All of those changes have been created for your own, and our staff’s, safety, and we ask you to follow our Covid-related signage as well as the directions coming from the event staff. We promise that even with stricter measures implemented, all our participants will have all the fun in the world!

We trust that you take extra precautions days before the event and undergo a self-assessment for any sudden changes. You shouldn’t attend the event if you or someone in your household has had any Covid symptoms in the past 14 days before the event:

• A high temperature (over 38,0C)

• A new, continuous cough

• A loss of, or change to, sense of smell or taste

Before the run: check your new start time and how to prepare yourself for the event

COVID self-declaration form and T&C

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Two days before the event we will send you an email with a link to the COVID self-declaration form. We kindly ask you to fill it out 48h before the event. Every participant needs to fill out the self-declaration form.

After sending the form, you will receive a confirmation email, which you will need to show us at the entrance. There is no need to print the confirmation or the T&C form as long as you can display the email on your screen! To avoid problems at the entrance, please check if all the other members of your group have filled out their forms as well!

When should I arrive?

To ensure a safe event for all our participants, we have updated the start times.
Your new start time marks the hour of your arrival at the parking lot – this way we can guarantee safe distances between different participant groups.
We kindly ask you not to arrive at the event earlier or later than your scheduled time.

1. Arrival and temperature check

We at the Color Obstacle Rush want to pay extra attention to your safety at our
event. This year exceptionally we are kindly asking our participants not to arrive any earlier than their given start time.

When you arrive at the parking lot, please follow the signage and the directions given by our staff.

As soon as you arrive at the event, we will require you to show us the confirmation of your Covid-19 self-declaration along with your ID. We will also perform a mandatory temperature check. If your temperature is over 37.8⁰C, you will be directed to the medical tent for a medical consultation.

Covid self declaration form must be filled up by each participant individually (and bring the email proof). In order to allow you to participate in the event, we need to check that your ID matches the name on your COVID self declaration form.

It is okay if participants aged under 16 years on the date of the event don’t have a valid ID, as long as their parent, legal guardian or a responsible adult who accompanies the participant has one.

After the temperature check, please follow the check-in queue in your own support bubble
of max 6 people to check in, remembering about keeping a safe distance.

Please ensure that you remember to bring with you a valid photographic ID, a valid
order confirmation, and a signed covid self declaration form confirmation + hand sanitiser and face covering.

Please note that you don’t have to print your order confirmation or email confirmation of the completed self declaration form, you can also show them from your phone.

Please note that we may not be able to answer any questions during the event weekend.

Please note there will be no tickets available for sale on the event day. You can purchase the tickets exclusively online until last Thursday before the event (June 10th).

2. Check-in

At the check-in you will be asked to show us your ticket or order confirmation. We will need the order confirmation especially if you have ordered any additional items such as swag bags, face paints, tutus etc.

To speed up the check-in, please prepare your ticket or order confirmation in advance.

You will receive your T-shirt and wristband as well as any possible additional items.
We do not ask about your T-shirt size upon ticket purchase. We kindly ask you to check our size chart in advance so that you know what T-shirt you would like to receive at the check-in (they are standard unisex, range S-XXL). If you feel you are somewhere between two sizes, take the larger one: it will be more comfortable! Unfortunately, as a safety measure we do not allow exchanges.

The wristband is your entry ticket to the event. You may receive different kinds of wristbands within your team, but the colour isn’t important anymore, it’s just supposed to look cool!
After the check-in you will also have an opportunity to buy some merchandise at our store. Please note that we only accept contactless payment. Remember that there will be one-way at the event, which means you will not have access to the check-in area and the store once you have passed them.

And one more thing: you’ll receive your personal medal and colour packet as soon as you cross the finish line!

3. Warm-up

To adhere to the government requirements, the warm-up will be organised in separated fewer participants’ pens in designated areas. Fortunately less crowd does not equal less fun! Get ready to dance and stretch with us!

After the warm-up, the participants from each pen will be allowed to the course, maintaining safe distances between the groups. Please follow the instructions given by our staff.

4. How to get to the event?

The event will take place at the Newcastle Racecourse

High Gosforth Park
Newcastle upon Tyne

Newcastle Central Station is 15 minutes by taxi.
Regent Centre Metro Station is situated 2 miles from the racecourse.

Numbers 43 and 44 leave from Haymarket Bus Station in Newcastle City Centre every few minutes and arrive at the racecourse.

Follow brown and white tourist board signs bearing a horse and rider from the A1, A19 and main approach roads to Newcastle.

Please note that there will be a £5 parking fee at the event (cash only).

5. Where to keep your stuff?

There will be NO bag drop available to avoid contacts at the event.

Please note, there are NO showers at the venue. In fine weather, it is quite easy to shake the colour off the clothes, but in damp weather we recommend you to bring a change of clothes, some towels or large plastic bag with you to prevent your car or public transport from getting coloured. It’s possible that buses and trains won’t allow onboard passengers who don’t have clean clothes or something to cover the seats.

If you are bringing a change of clothes, we kindly ask you to leave your things in the car and change in the parking lot after the event.

6. Obstacles and colour

It might take a few minutes before you can hit the obstacles so please be patient. Please follow the instructions given by the staff and the starter as they guide you to the start gate.
Please note that a face covering is mandatory at the obstacles but not on the track.

There will be approximately 20 different obstacles along the route, which is around 5 kilometers (approx. 3 miles) long. Please note that we reserve the right to make changes to the number and range of the obstacles: depending on the venue, terrain, weather and other circumstances we might not be able to use all of our obstacles at every Color Obstacle Rush event.
The obstacles are quite easy and fun but you will need to be careful and also pay attention to other runners. If you feel that an obstacle looks too challenging, you can always pass around it
if you prefer. Please don’t stop at any of the obstacles to wait for your friends, take photos (or for a nap). This will interfere with the flow of the course and cause congestion and queues at the obstacles.

It takes approximately 45–90 minutes to complete the course. Remember that the event is not a
competition and the most important thing is to have fun – if you prefer not to run, jogging or
walking around the course are also perfectly acceptable! Please be considerate to the faster runners and leave room for them to pass and vice versa. Peace, love, understanding and sweet harmony to every Rusher regardless of their running pace!

There are 6 colouring points on the route. The colour is 100 % natural corn starch that’s been dyed
with food/cosmetic colours. The powder is specifically manufactured for these kinds of events. We use only fire retardant colour powder in all of the Color Obstacle Rush events. However, it may cause allergic reactions to those allergic to dust and may also cause asthma attacks.

Some inflatable obstacles may get hot in the sun. It’s not a bad idea to wear leggings etc. to make the experience more comfortable!

You should wear sunglasses at each colour point.

7. Can I participate if I am pregnant or I have some health issues?

If you are pregnant or have any issues with your health we recommend you consult your
doctor before entering the Color Obstacle Rush. Although our mission is to make the race as safe as possible for every participant, there is always the possibility of unforeseeable incidents (such as falling or bumping into another person).

8. Finish and Colour Festivals

To ensure a safer environment, the colour festivals will be held for smaller groups in a separated area at the end of the course. Have fun and don’t forget your medal at the finish line! We kindly ask you to not drop on the ground anything else than the colour powder!
Please do not linger after the event. All participants will be asked to move forward after the colour festival. We understand that you may want to wait for your friends or just relax and contemplate your achievement but sadly, we have to ask you to go directly to your car so we can avoid a crowd forming at the finish line.

9. Photos and social media

Our photographer will come to capture your fun among the obstacles. All the photos will be posted on our Facebook page a week after the event.

If you share your own beautiful pictures on social media, please use the hashtag #colorobstaclerush and tag us, so we can find them, too! 🙂 And to get some extra colour in your life, please follow us on:

Facebook: Color Obstacle Rush UK

10. Audience

Unfortunately, for safety reasons, we can allow NO audience to the event. We ask any family
members, friends and cheerleaders of the participants to kindly wait in the car
park area.

11. Food, drink, merchandise

There will be two water stations located in the event area. You can also bring your own drinks (as long as the bottles are not made of glass) but please note that it may be quite hard to tackle some of the obstacles with a water bottle in your hand!

Unfortunately, there will be no catering at the event.

Sunglasses, bandanas, sweatbands, extra colour bags, face painting, tattoos, silicone bracelets, gymsacks and women’s sports tops will be on sale at the festival area.

Please note that it will not be possible to return to the store after having passed it at the beginning of the event. Plan your shopping wisely!

12. Alcohol and smoking

Please note that alcohol is not permitted at the event. Smoking is also forbidden.

13. What if I can’t participate?
